Astrology 101: Saturn Return aka Quarter and Half Life Crisis

Almost everyone in their mid-to-late 20s and mid-to-late 50s will experience a big career change and feelings of uncertainty. This is known as your Saturn Return, which is an astrological milestone.

What is Saturn Return?
Your Saturn, aka the taskmaker sign, returns to its original sky placement from when you were born approximately every 29.5 years. This is your Saturn Return and it generally lasts for two to three years.

The first Saturn return will be when you are around 29, but give or take a few years, and it is a wake-up call to true adulthood. It occurs again in your mid/late 50s and again in your 80s. It is a check-in from the universe to ensure that you are on the right path.

What should you expect during this time?
During this time, you might experience some uncertainty as Saturn is going to move you toward the path that will help you to achieve your life’s purpose. It is very common to experience a spiritual awakening as well.

You might want to quit your job during your Saturn Return. Saturn is the planet responsible for career, so most people experience professional shakeups. Wanting to pivot careers, start a business, or something else that seems daunting and scary is normal. Your Saturn is a time for personal transformation.

What does your Saturn placement tell you about the lessons you are meant to learn?

If your Saturn is in a fire sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), it means you are learning how to slow down.

If your Saturn is in an earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), it means you are being pushed outside of your comfort zone and it encourages you to try new things.

If your Saturn is in an air sign (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), it means you are meant to focus on yourself and you will get to know yourself again during this time.

If your Saturn is in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), it means you are learning emotional maturity.

What Saturn Return meant in my life
My Saturn is in Sagittarius, so I was challenged to reimagine my belief system and really think about my purpose. I spent a lot of time thinking about my career and how I define success and happiness. I really slowed down.
I also explored my relationship with fun and adventure. I began to add more fun into my everyday life. I started to realize how freedom in all definitions was extremely important to me. I began to embrace my desire to work for myself and create something from my imagination. During this time, I also experienced a spiritual awakening.

It's been a few years since my Saturn Return and I'm still integrating those lessons. During my Saturn Return, I created this company and became a Career Astrologist and Mindset Coach. I discovered that helping people with the help of astrology is my life’s purpose.
