Year of the Rabbit 2023

Sunday, January 22nd marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year 2023. This year, we are entering the Year of the Rabbit.

Major themes of 2023 will include healing, spiritual awakening, developing your intuition, abundance, prosperity, and a focus on introspection and peace. Throughout 2023, we will continue our healing journey at both the individual and collective levels, which will further develop your emotional literacy and intuition.

2023 is designated as a yin year because it ends with an odd number. This means it will require us to rest and find more flow. This year will be a time to be more contemplative, find ways to maintain calmness and ease and release anything that feels forced.

It is a good time to ask yourself, “how can this be easier?”

  • Actions to take this year:

  • Develop your intuition

  • Start a business

  • Diversifying your income streams

  • Prioritizing Wellbeing and Health

INTUITION

In terms of developing your intuition, 2023 will be a good year to focus on trusting your inner voice and finding ways to allow your intuition to clearly come through. Use your emotions as a way to understand your intuition, redefine how you feel emotions, and release any limiting beliefs you may hold around being emotional.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

If you’ve been thinking about starting a business, 2023 is a great time to explore what that looks like for you. This is a year to explore how to build upon your wealth and establish a legacy for yourself. Your intuition will serve as a guiding force as to what type of business you should start. Don’t forget to trust in your own timing.

DIVERSIFY INCOME STREAMS

Explore different ways of generating income to welcome more abundance into your life. If you start planting the seeds now, you can create your own luck. This year is also a time for those who have been working in this area of life to receive blessings.

HEALING

Focus on starting or continuing your healing journey. The Year of the Rabbit is a water year, which means it is a reflective time that requires us to be flexible and listen to our inner voice. You may embark on your spiritual journey or deepen your connection with your higher self and the Universe. Healing is non-linear so be kind to yourself. Seek guides, experts, and supportive communities to help you prioritize your mental, spiritual, and emotional health.  This year will require us to understand how to cultivate inner peace when our external world may not feel that way.

The last Year of the Rabbit was in 2011. If you were born in 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, or 2011, you are a rabbit. This can create challenges for people born in these years because it is their “Ben Ming Nian,” which happens every 12 years.

If you were born in the Year of the Rabbit, be mindful of the year ahead. Understand that your greatest challenges can transform into your greatest gifts. In Chinese culture, this is usually a year where intense challenges may arise. It can feel challenging because you are entering a new life stage. A new version of yourself is emerging.

The following are a few rituals to help ward off bad luck for those born in a Rabbit year.

2023 marks the closing of a cycle for those born during Rabbit years, so think back to 2011, what did that year look like and what challenges did you face?

  • This is an opportunity for a new identity to emerge that will help support you in your next cycle.

  • What do you need to release in order for the next version of yourself to come through?

  • A helpful exercise could be to think of the highlights in your life from 2011-2022. What would you like to see happen over the next twelve years?

  • Increase mindful moments throughout the day to ground yourself, focusing on cultivating your energy even more to release negativity, setting intentions about maintaining your inner peace, and wearing red.

Whether you were born during the Year of the Rabbit or not, 2023 will bring more peace, blessings, and healing.
